Logic Stage Book List for Ancients

Below is the list of books I’ll be using for Logic Stage (Gr. 5 – 8).  I chose a mix of classics (retellings of The Epic of Gilgamesh, The Iliad, etc.) and modern works set in ancient times (Middleworld, Seven Daughters and Seven Sons, etc.).  My 10-year-old was excited when the books arrived in the mail, so I think I’ve chosen well.

  1. Theodosia and the Serpents of Chaos by R. L. LaFevers
  2. Tales of Ancient Egypt by Roger Lancelyn Green
  3. Children’s Illustrated Bible (DK) by Selina Hastings
  4. Aesop’s Fables by Ann McGovern
  5. Gilgamesh the Hero by Geraldine McCaughrean
  6. The Broken Tusk by Uma Krishnaswami
  7. Tales from Africa by Kathleen Arnott
  8. The Aeneid for Boys and Girls by Alfred Church
  9. Tales of Greek Heroes by Roger Lancelyn Green
  10. Seven Daughters and Seven Sons by Barbara Cohen
  11. The Odyssey by Geraldine McCaughrean
  12. Middleworld (The Jaguar Stones, Book One) by J&P Voelkel
  13. The Tale of Troy by Roger Lancelyn Green
  14. Wild Orchid: A Retelling of the Ballad of Fa Mulan by Cameron Dokey
  15. Julius Caesar (Shakespeare Made Easy) by Alan Durband
  16. The Bronze Bow by Elizabeth George Speare
  17. The Eagle of the Ninth by Rosemary Sutcliff

About Laura

I've been homeschooling since 2005. I have six children (born 2000 - 2012). We are eclectic in our approach with a bit more Well-Trained Mind philosophy over anything else.
